The house cat is very closely related to a number of living wild cat species, such as the jungle cat, the sand cat, and African wildcats. Most domesticated cats still believe they are wild.

Domestication of the cat began in ancient Egypt.

Cats were attracted to human settlements by the higher populations of mice, that were themselves attracted to human settlements by the agriculture that gave the mice more to eat.

Unlike modern have undergone only changes in anatomy and behavior, and essentially all house cats are easily capable of surviving in the wild. Imagine a chihuahua doing this.
